Setup Procedure

Create a project by clicking the "+" button under Search Analytics in the menu on the left side of the screen and giving the project a name of your choice.

Next, choose one of the following options for connecting to BigQuery.


Deposit data to Amethyst without BigQuery

<aside> 📝 - There is no need to set up or pay for a Google Cloud project yourself. - Search Console export data cannot be used directly outside of Amethyst.

Select the management type "Manage with Amethyst" and click Create.

The Project Settings screen will appear.

Next, configure the batch data export settings on Google Search Console.

Go to Google Search Console, select "Settings" from the left menu of the Search Console property you wish to investigate, and further select "Bulk Data Export" Select "Bulk Data Export.

Set the following information in the "Set export destination" field and press "Continue".

Cloud Project ID: amethyst-data Dataset Name: The string starting with "searchconsole_" as it appears on the Amethyst screen

Dataset location: United States (US)

Once you click the Create button, the data will be reflected within 48 hours (actually about 1 hour) and Search Analytics will be available.

Exporting from this to your own BigQuery

<aside> 📝 - The process is complicated with many steps. - Maintain access to your own Search Console export data. - You will need to configure your Google Cloud project and BigQuery. Depending on data size and other factors, Google may charge you a fee.

The first step is to export to BigQuery. Please follow the steps below to enable BigQueryAPI, register a service account, configure data export settings, and authorize Amethyst.

Enable BigQueryAPI

  1. Open the Google Cloud Console.

  2. From the menu, select "APIs and Services" ' "Enabled APIs and Services".

    If you do not have a project, you cannot select this option. Please create a project first.
